Winter-run Chinook have been pushed to the brink of extinction with the multi-year drought, with only one population left spawning in the Sacramento River downstream of Shasta and Keswick dams. Successful reintroduction of winter-run Chinook in Battle Creek is essential. The Battle Creek Restoration Project partners completed the Battle Creek Reintroduction Plan for Winter-run Chinook Salmon in 2016. Partners include California Department of Fish and Wildlife, NOAA Fisheries, US Bureau of Reclamation, US Fish and Wildlife Service, PG&E, and Battle Creek Watershed Conservancy. Learn More Photo: © NOAA
